Marsha J. Evans' career has combined military service and leadership of the nation's premier non-profit organizations. During her nearly 30-year career in the U.S. Navy, assignments included Chief of Staff, U.S. Naval Academy, and chair of the committee that developed a strategy to address the gender-based issues that gave rise to the Tailhook situation. Her command tours included Treasure Island Naval Station, The George C. Marshall Center (Garmisch, Germany), Navy Recruiting and the Naval Postgraduate School. She was the highest ranking woman in the U.S. Navy. She retired in 1998. Admiral Evans then served as the CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA from 1998 to 2002 and as the President and CEO of the American Red Cross from 2002 through 2005. Most recently she was the Acting Commissioner of the Ladies Professional Golf Association. She is a director of several public companies and the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation.

Sandy D. Welfare is the Executive Director of Cool Girls, an award winning early intervention afterschool program dedicated to the empowerment of low-income girls. Sandy's long history with Cool Girls began in 1995. In 2008, Sandy was nominated to chair the Cool Girls Board of Directors and in 2009 she assumed the position of Executive Director. Sandy D. Welfare was the Managing Director of Xchanging Global Production and she repatriated after concluding an international assignment in London at Changing's headquarters in 2009. Previously she was the Director of US Operations and the Global Account Manager for Global Insurance Services, providing strategic solutions and support for a client's global operation. Prior to joining Xchanging, Sandy spent eight years as a Senior Manager for Lucent Technologies, Inc. At Lucent, her responsibilities included the management of the Singapore shared services hub for the Asia Pacific region as well as managing the Australia/New Zealand in-country operations. She also controlled the treasury functions for their financial operations in Europe, Asia Pacific, Caribbean, Latin America, Canada, Mexico, and China. Sandy began her career in Connecticut as the Controller for an insurance agency. Her educational foundation includes an undergraduate degree from St. John's University in New York, and a Masters of Business Administration from Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. Sandy resides in East Cobb Marietta with her family.

Lorry is a native of Buffalo, New York. and began her career as a Hourly Production worker at Ford Motor Company Buffalo Stamping Plant. Lorry held various management positions including Production Superintendent during her 8 years of service.. She joined Eaton Aerospace in 2002 as a Manufacturing Manager and later served as Plant Manager at the Toccoa, GA plant. Lorry served as OPEX Manager for the Aerospace Group, and was named to her current position as Plant Manager of the Eaton Supercharger Plant located in Athens, Georgia in November 2010. Lorry holds a MS Degree in HR and a BS degree in Psychology.

Leading the Way for EveryBody

A workshop by Padma Ravichandran & Robin Rinker

Leading the Way for EveryBody examines the relationship between body image and leadership. To understand this relationship, participants will learn about body image and its contributing factors. Participants will apply these concepts in the context of leadership to determine how body image can positively or negatively impact leadership qualities. The workshop will also identify strategies for promoting positive body image.

Padma Ravichandran is a Graduate Intern with Health Promotion. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of Maryland, College Park in May 2010. She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health degree, with a concentration in Health Education from Emory University. Padma is a second year Master of Public Health student in the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. Padma is currently working with Health Promotion, a unit of Stamps Health Services at Georgia Tech University on a number of projects around sexual health and body image. Prior to working at Health Promotion she interned with the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors Health Equity Council, working on a project related to the social determinants of health. Padma also gained experience working in Women's Health while interning with the Health Resources and Services Administration Office of Women's Health.

Robin Rinker is a Graduate Intern in Health Promotion. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Public Health from Randolph-Macon Woman's College and will graduate in May 2012 from Emory University with a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education.Robin Rinker is a second year graduate student pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. She currently works as a Graduate Intern for Health Promotion, a unit of Stamps Health Services at Georgia Tech. Prior to Georgia Tech, she worked as an intern in the Laboratory Science, Policy and Practice Program Office at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention specializing in projects regarding legal and funding issues facing public health laboratories. Additionally, she is a Health Education Specialist with the Metro Atlanta Chapter of the American Red Cross teaching community classes on CPR and First Aid as well as Babysitter's Training courses for young adults.

Deborah Covin Wilson, CPLP, SPHR joined Georgia State University as the Director of Organizational Development and Consulting Services in August, 2011. Some of her responsibilities include: leadership development, training, organizational development, retreat facilitation, mentoring programs, strategic planning, improving organizational culture and team building. She previously served in several capacities at Georgia Institute of Technology from January 1990 to August 2011. In her last position as Director, Career Development, Deborah's responsibilities included: Leadership Services, Educational Assistance Programs, Career Development Programs and Mentoring Programs. Deborah was also responsible for the Workplace Education Programs at Georgia Tech, which received a Governor's Award for Workplace Literacy. Ms. Wilson is a certified facilitator of several instruments such as: DISC, MBTI, Hogan, Life Styles Inventory (LSI), Leadership Practices Inventory among others. Ms. Wilson also serves as principal of Wilson Associates, an organizational development and training consulting firm. Deborah is one of the first 250 people to EVER receive the distinguished Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) designation from ASTD!
