2011 Committee Application
The Georgia Tech Women's Leadership Conference is planned by a committee of undergraduate and graduate women students, advised by a board of Georgia Tech faculty and alumnae. Each year, this committee is selected by an application process - the 2011 application is now available!

Conference Chair
Liz Tarpey is a 4th year Industrial and Systems Engineering major from Braintree, MA. Aside from working with WLC, Liz serves as Secretary to the Collegiate Panhellenic Council and is a member of the Order of Omega, a Greek Honor Society. She spent her summer interning in the Operations Team of Boston Scientific in Quincy, MA and the previous summer studying abroad on the Oxford Program. Last year, Liz served as Publicity chair to the conference and really enjoyed publicizing for the event. She has also served as Publicity chair to her sorority, Alpha Xi Delta.
Advisor
Colleen Riggle is the director of the Georgia Tech Women's Resource Center and advisor to Women's Leadership Conference and Women's Awareness Month. This is Colleen's 1st year advising the Women's Leadership Conference.
Awards Chair
Corey Aitken is a 3rd year Management major from Tucker, GA and is serving as the Awards Chair this year. Outside of the WLC, she is the House Manager for Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, a member of the Team Leader Advisory Board, a GT 1000 Team Leader, a host for Connect With Tech, and previously ran Cross Country and Track for Georgia Tech. She is also currently co-oping at Action Capital Corporation. In her free time she enjoys running half marathons, traveling, scuba diving, and shopping.
Finance Chair
Maryam Doroudi is a graduate student in the school of Biology. She served as a keynote speaker chair in 2009 and as a volunteer in the 2007 and 2008 Women's Leadership Conference. She is very excited about the opportunity that WLC has provided her to practice teamwork and leadership skills. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as sailing, hiking, skiing, kayaking, caving and running.
Registration Chair
Caitlin Simmonds is a 3rd year Building Construction major from Peachtree City, GA. Besides working with the WLC as the Registration Chair, she also is involved with the Marketing Committee for Relay for Life, the Mystagogue Chair for the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, the grassroots campaign ONE, and the Student Construction Association. She also works with and is involved in Georgia Tech's Success Programs as a student assistant. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys dancing, whether its for Homecoming Week's MockRock or just for fun. She also loves to travel and recently studied abroad this past summer in Paris.
Ambassador
Aarthi Murugappan is a 3rd year Biology major from Augusta, GA. She is also involved with AIESEC and is on the logistics committee for TEAM Buzz. Last year, she spend a semester studying abroad in Singapore and loved her time in Southeast Asia. Her hobbies include eating lots of good food and sometimes cooking. This is Aarthi's second year with WLC.
Web Chair
K.C. Young is a 5th year Industrial Engineering major from Memphis, TN. She has served as President of the Student Alumni Association and of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She is also a member Georgia Tech Student Ambassadors, where she serves as the Website Chair. When she is not updating the WLC website, K.C. can be found searching Atlanta for good Tex-Mex. K.C. will be working full-time for Bain & Company after graduation. This is K.C.'s fourth year working with WLC.
Graphics Chair
Kristin Hare is a 4th year Industrial Design student from Dunwoody, Georgia. She is a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and a member of the Industrial Design Society of America. She has worked at Jordan, Jones & Goulding, Cbeyond, and the Georgia Tech Craft Center. In her free time she enjoys making pottery and stained glass. This is Kristin's first year on the WLC Planning Committee.
Keynote Speaker Chair
Anna Hayes is a 3rd year Management major from Peachtree City, GA pursuing a certificate in Accounting and a Pre-Law minor. She is currently an intern with Ultimate Software and a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications. Anna is a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and enjoys playing on many of their intramural teams as well as participating in their annual Tug-Of-War.
Logistics Chairs
Naveena Rahman is a 4th year Industrial and Systems Engineering student from Woodstock, Georgia. Her experience with the Women's Leadership Conference has ranged from a guest as a high school student to volunteer to 2010 Logistics Chair. In addition to serving on the conference committee, she is in Georgia Tech's Honors Program, a member of Society of Women Engineers, Muslim Student Association, STAND, Gamma Beta Phi, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Festival committee. Beyond academics, her interests include traveling, reading, shopping, basketball, and organizing logistics for the WLC.
Devika Sood is a 5th year Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering student from Alpharetta, GA. She is serving the committee for the first time this year, and is very excited to be able to make a valuable contribution to the conference. She has been a Teaching Assistant for the Physics II department at Georgia Tech and a tutor for the Athletic Assoication. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, swimming, shopping, and playing chess.
Publicity Chairs
Taylor Frost is a 4th year Architecture major from Acworth, GA. She is this year's WLC Publicity chair; in addition she is also an RA in the Undergraduate Living Center and works at Georgia Tech Conference Services. Among other positions, she has been a Connect with Tech host for 2 years and is an intern at the Georgia National Trust for Historic Preservation. She enjoys doing arts and crafts, watching movies and Georgia Tech Football when she's not busy with her extracurricular activities.
Workshops Chair
Keianna Shipp is a 4th year Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering major originally from Oklahoma. She is this year's WLC Workshops chair; in addition she is also a mentor in a local Atlanta high school. She enjoys crocheting and watching movies when she's not busy with her extracurricular activities.
Volunteers Chair
Jennifer Lor is a 4th year Management major pursuing a certificate in Accounting. After attending the conference last year, she was deeply impressed and is now thrilled to be serving on the planning committee. Aside from WLC, Jennifer has also been a Resident Advisor for Eight Street Apartments and the Marketing Director for Alpha Kappa Psi. She is now interning for GT Conference Services and can be found volunteering at the Atlanta Pet Rescue in her spare time.
